The Series PMT is a family of high performance regulated dc to dc modular power supplies equally suitable for OEM or laboratory requirements. Proprietary Bertan linear circuit techniques result in exceptionally low ripple and noise. Applications include photomultiplier tubes, solid state detectors, ultrasonic transducers and other devices requiring a precision source of high voltage.

Output voltage can be controlled over the full output range either by the internal multi-turn potentiometer, an external 5 kilohm potentiometer or a remote 0 to +9V voltage source. The control method is selectable by the user at the input connector.

Input power, programming and monitoring are provided through the 12 pin card-edge connector (a mating connector is furnished with each unit). High voltage output is via a shielded RG-59B/U cable.

The Series PMT employs all solid state circuitry. The metal encased units are reliable and rugged. The output is fully short circuit and arc protected. Each unit is fully tested prior to shipment.

Local Control:
Internal multi-turn potentiometer for 0 to maximum output voltage control.

Remote Programming:
The output high voltage can be controlled from 0 to maximum by a remote analog voltage or a remote potentiometer. The remote control method is user-selectable at the I/O connector.

Remote Voltage Programming:
0 to +9 Volt dc analog input signal (0 to +5V for Model PMT-100) proportional to 0 to maximum rated output. Accuracy is ± (2% of setting + 0.5% maximum). The programming input impedance is dependent upon the model but is greater than 85 kohms for all units.

Remote Potentiometer Programming:
A remote 5 kohm potentiometer can be used to control the high voltage output from 0 to maximum.

The monitor output polarity matches the high voltage output polarity.

Current Limit:
Automatic current limiting occurs at approximately 120% of maximum rated output current at maximum rated output voltage. Supply is self-restoring upon removal of cause of limit condition.

For Local Control: Connect pin 8 to 9

For Remote Control: Connect clockwise terminal to pin 10, wiper to pin 8, and counter-clockwise terminal to pin 1 or 12 (or pin 7 for Option -1).

For Remote Voltage Programming: Apply programming signal (0 to +9 volts) to pin 8.

Ordering Information

Specify model, output polarity P or N (for Positive or Negative), followed by -1 or -3 to indicate input voltage (either +24 to +30V or ±12 to ±18V) as required. For example, a 2000V positive output polarity unit powered from a +28Vdc supply would be ordered as a PMT-20CP-1.
